  • Each year, Kappa Delta chapters across the country hold Shamrock Events to benefit Prevent Child Abuse America (PCAA) as well as local child abuse prevention agencies.
     

  • Kappa Delta collegiate chapters and alumnae chapters choose their own type of Shamrock Event. In the past, these have included golf tournaments, walk-a-thons, basketball tournaments, silent auctions, see-saw-a-thons, spaghetti dinners, pancake dinners, raffles and more.
     

  • Kappa Delta Sorority has been holding its annual Shamrock Event since 1983. The first nationwide Shamrock Event raised more than $42,000.
     

  • Since 1983, Kappa Delta collegiate and alumnae chapters hve raised a total of more than $11.5 million through annual Shamrock Event fundraisers.
     

  • In the 2011-2012 academic year alone, Kappa Deltas raised in excess of $1,412,000 and donated more than 158,000 hours for the cause.
     

  • Of the funds raised through Kappa Delta's Shamrock Event, 80% stays in the local community and 20% is given to PCAA for its national efforts.
     

  • Kappa Delta funds donated to PCAA help underwrite child abuse prevention education programs. Funds donated locally assist community child abuse prevention programs.
     

  • PCAA was founded in 1972 by the late Donna Stone, a Kappa Delta at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. Today, PCAA has a network of 47 statewide chapters.
     

  • Kappa Delta Sorority was founded in 1897 at what is now Longwood University in Farmville, VA. The sorority has over 143 collegiate chapters and have chartered more than 515 alumnae chapters across the country, many of which participate in an annual Shamrock Event.
